Cecil County Dragway – Bar Crawl
The small town of Rising Sun, Maryland, is home to the Cecil County Dragway. This quarter-mile racetrack is located on 100 acres of land. While this racetrack may seem isolated, we assure you that there are plenty of places close by for entertainment and relaxation.
Wondering what a great way to unwind after a day out at the racetrack is? A bar crawl, of course! The bars we’ve selected aren’t too far from the Cecil County Dragway. However, for some of this bar crawl you will need to use a car to get around, so use ridesharing services to bar hop.
unWined
To start your night in a relaxing environment, take a 10-minute ride from the Cecil County Dragway over to unWined. This is a family-owned and -operated business that serves over 30 wines by the glass. There’s also a wine shop that has over 100 fine wines from around the world in stock.

There’s no problem with keeping it simple and opting for a beer instead either. With over 100 craft and imported beers available, there’s bound to be something that will satisfy your palate.
As for food, unWined partners with local producers. Their food is homemade with fresh ingredients. As an appetizer, order the award-winning five mushroom soup. If you’re with a group, there are plenty of shareable plates to choose from, including the crab dip, Buffalo chicken dip, or cheese board.
Entrees include numerous seafood dishes, such as seared scallops, succulent crab cake, and loaded rockfish. For those who aren’t seafood fans, there’s also fettuccine Alfredo, chicken Lombardi, or the unWined Wellington. With so many delightfully fresh and delicious options, don’t pass up on dinner with your drinks here.
Perryville Sports Bar & Grille
Your next stop, Perryville Sports Bar & Grille, will require you to take an 11-minute ride over from unWined. This is an extremely laid-back eatery with friendly staff and occasional live musical performances.
When you walk in, grab a seat by the bar or grab your drink and play a game of pool. After drinking a beer or two, you might be loosened up enough to head on over to the karaoke machine. They also serve cocktails for those who don’t indulge in beer.
Regardless of your drink choice, you’ll have a great time at this local bar while watching sports on one of their many televisions, playing a round of pool, or singing the night away. This fun-filled stop is only about nine miles from the Cecil County Dragway.
The Vineyard Wine Bar
Getting to The Vineyard Wine Bar from Perryville Sports Bar & Grille will take you on a nine-minute ride over the Susquehanna River. Wine lovers out there can feel reassured knowing that this bar won Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence in 2015 and 2016. Keep in mind that on most weekends and some weekday nights, The Vineyard Wine Bar will be booked full, so it is encouraged to make a reservation beforehand.
If you skipped food at unWined or have since worked up an appetite, this is another great place to eat. They offer tapas-style appetizers, flatbreads, and light, medium, and full-bodied plates to satisfy any hunger level. No substitutions can be made since their chef has gone to great lengths to perfect the tastes and textures of all the dishes on the menu.
Pair your food with one of the wines from their extensive wine-by-the-glass list. They also serve premium beers if you’re not in the mood for wine.
Rodgers House Tavern
No ridesharing service is needed for your next stop because Rodgers House Tavern is just steps away from The Vineyard Wine Bar. This family-run business is tucked away in a recently renovated historic building in Downtown Havre de Grace, an antique shopping district. It’s a cozy local favorite that serves up beer, wine, and a variety of cocktails.
When you’re at Rodgers House Tavern, there are a few activities you can take part in as you enjoy a drink. For instance, you could play a game of pool with friends. Maybe you want a rematch after the game you played over at Perryville!
If you’d prefer to relax a bit, there are televisions that play the latest sports games and news. And if you weren’t feeling brave enough to perform earlier, you can sing your heart out with karaoke.
Coakley’s Pub
The final spot is Coakley’s Pub, which is also located in Downtown Havre de Grace. It’s a three-minute walk from Rodgers House Tavern and roughly 11 miles from the Cecil County Dragway. Margie Coakley wanted a pub that would showcase her Irish heritage mixed with her love for America. The result is this quaint and welcoming pub, which opened its doors in 1997.
As your last bar, wind down the night at the bar in front of one of the many televisions with a beer or cocktail. The beer list rotates every few months. Depending on when you visit, there might be live music.
So, did you make it through this bar crawl? Hopefully it was a lot of fun and resulted in you finding a new favorite watering hole to visit again the next time you’re in Rising Sun, Maryland, at the Cecil County Dragway.
