Today celebrates one of the most important people in everyone’s lives: mothers. Mother’s Day is meant for spending time with mom and showing her how loved and appreciated she is. Every mom has a never-ending list of things to do. It comes with the territory. Some moms even put more on their plate and take on the role of team mom. These are the moms that are always in the stands, getting snacks ready for the team, and chauffeuring kids to and from practice.

For all you team moms out there, know that you are the MVP of the team. We see you on the sidelines cutting up orange slices. We thank you for the emails and texts you send notifying that the game has been canceled or the practice time changed. You do it all. You’re the glue that keeps the team together. Without you, youth sports wouldn’t be what it is today.

You’re at the forefront of any parents meeting, the team liaison that makes sure that coach and parent are on the same page. Sometimes an afternoon consists of organizing a snack schedule for the other parents to follow. You put NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson to shame as you maneuver your way through traffic to get across town so your kid gets to practice on time. Every now and again you’ll don your event planner hat and prepare for a team party or fundraiser.

You may also find yourself moonlighting as a financial advisor. Staying up late to make sure everyone else has paid their team and equipment fees. You act as the team’s official travel agent whenever they need to embark on a trip to play in a tournament. Whether that be finding rooms at a hotel or just organizing a car pool brigade.

Somehow, between everything else you do, you miraculously found the time to get your medical degree. You clean and bandage cuts and scrapes. A first-aid kit is always within arm’s reach. We can’t forget one of the most important responsibilities: acting as team chef. You bring the snacks that all the kids crave. You know that healthy foods are important, but a little junk food goes a long way.

But above all else, you’re the team’s biggest fan. You are a permanent fixture in the stands. Whenever you cheer and root for the team, everyone knows who’s encouraging them. And that’s why we’re big fans of you.

For all these reasons, you are irreplaceable. You are why the team runs so smoothly and things get done on time. Thank you for everything you do! We hope you have an awesome Mother’s Day!
