The mission of ABQ BioPark is to offer exciting recreational opportunities for families while promoting environmental awareness, stewardship, and conservation. A division of the City of Albuquerque’s Cultural Services Department, ABQ BioPark is comprised of four facilities: The Albuquerque Aquarium features a coral exhibit and houses all manner of marine creatures, including eels, jellyfish, sharks, and stingrays. The Rio Grande Botanic Garden has been rated by The Travel Channel as one of the top 12 in the nation and features over a mile of paths that lead to number of exhibits, including a desert conservatory, a butterfly pavilion, a cottonwood gallery, and a dragonfly sanctuary pond.

The ABQ BioPark Zoo abuts the Rio Grande and features 64 acres of exhibits and animals, including Mexican gray wolves, polar bears, reptiles, apes, seals, elephants, and other creatures. Hollywick Farms is a working alpaca farm located in the Sandia Mountains just outside Albuquerque. The kids will love getting to know these super-soft, gentle animals and learning about how their luxurious fleece is produced into yarn to make all sorts of wearables. You’ll watch as workers feed and care for the animals, and you may just catch a shearing session, if you’re lucky. Sandia Peak Tramway
