Things to Do

Las Vegas Natural History Museum

Cashman Center - Travel - Hotels4TeamsAn extensive museum with a range of exhibits, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum is a must-see attraction that’s very close to the Cashman Center. One of the exhibits the museum is most proud of is their accurate replica of King Tut’s tomb. Only one of two imitations authorized by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiques, it’s so realistic, that you think you’re actually in Egypt. As you explore the crypt, you will encounter King Tut’s sarcophagus, chariots, the pharaoh’s riches, and more. You can even scan your face and see what you would look like mummified. There’s plenty more to discover at the museum after King Tut’s tomb.

A room full of dinosaur replicas including a 35-foot-long T-rex that actually turns its head and ferociously roars at you might startle a few teammates. From the prehistoric era, venture to the African rainforests and the arid savanna. More animal models native to these parts of the world are found all over, in poses you would find them in the wild. The museum is also home to some live animals as well. A 3,000-gallon tank holds aquatic creatures like sharks, sting rays, lionfish, and a host of other marine animals. Pythons and other snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, and lizards are a part of this section of the museum too. Fascinating and colorful displays of rocks and minerals are another awesome portion that warrants a look. Under the black lights, the geological specimens glow all sorts of vibrantly bright colors. 900 N Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89101

The Mob Museum

Las Vegas wouldn’t be the city it is today without the mob. This group of gang members is as interesting as they were dangerous. The Mob Museum in downtown Las Vegas near the Cashman Center is a cool place to learn more about the history of the mob and their influence on Las Vegas. There are three floors full of hands-on, fascinating displays to check out. Grab an audio player to accompany you on your visit or go it alone and uncover the mysteries of the mob with no guidance. Profiles and pictures of some of the most notorious mobsters are presented, so you can learn about their history and some of the crimes they committed.

A pop culture exhibit concerned with the portrayal of mobsters in movies is a fantastic melding of real life mobsters to Hollywood actors that depicted them. At this display, you can even watch recordings of old broadcasts of actual gangsters put on trial in Vegas. You can take your own lineup photo with your team and experience a little of the mob life yourself. The Mob Museum has many more exhibits to captivate guests. The Neon Museum

If you’re stopping by The Mob Museum, you can purchase joint tickets and see The Neon Museum too (general admission to The Neon Museum only is also available). The only way to see the displays is to take an hour long guided tour. Don’t let that deter you, because the docents are very knowledgeable and add to the museum’s charm.

Check out all of the restored signs and watch the staff light them up for your amusement. Many un-restored signs are also on display for museum-goers to appreciate. The museum’s most popular pieces are the Boneyard and North Gallery, but there’s plenty more to see than just those two collections.
