Looking for some good old-fashioned American fun in Charleston?  Take your team to Appalachian Power Park to cheer for the West Virginia Power.  West Virginia’s minor league baseball team is sure to provide a lot of excitement for your team.

Contact the stadium ahead of time so they can work with you to get blocked seating so everyone can sit together.

Appalachian Power Park has deals on tickets and food very often, and even without deals the tickets and food are reasonable.

The Clay Center’s Avampato Discover Museum

Explore the Inventor’s Lab and tinker by yourself or with the help of the museum staff.  Your team can construct rockets, robots, race cars, and more.

If you want to see the museum from an alternate perspective, you can scale Ashton’s Climbing Sculpture.  The sculpture allows you to view all three levels of the museum.

Avampato Discover Museum is home to Caperton Planetarium and Theater.  Shows play every hour from 12 to 4 p.m.  There are three shows to choose from.

For those who have always wanted get up close and personal with a tornado, go see Tornado AlleyLegends of the Night Sky: Perseus & Andromeda tells the Greek tale of Princess Andromeda’s capture by a sea monster, later to be rescued by Perseus.  The third show, National Parks Adventure, takes viewers on a virtual tour of major state parks like Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Glacier National Park. 1 Clay Square, Charleston, WV 25301

 

Kanawha State Forest

Taking your team on a hike is a great way for them to recharge their batteries and experience the great outdoors.  Stop at Kanawha State Forest for a relaxing day outside.

Only seven miles from Charleston, Kanawha State Forest has 13 well marked trails for your team to choose from, each littered with streams, wildlife, and breathtaking views.

Memorial Ice Arena

Whether it’s hot or cold outside, ice skating is an enjoyable activity for all ages.  If you and your team are playing a tournament in Charleston, you can visit Memorial Ice Arena.

Slap on some skates and hit the ice, just remember to bring something warm to wear.  If the rink gets a little too cold for you, there is a heated seating area to help you warm up.  Admission and skate rentals are priced affordably.

Locked & Coded

Locked & Coded is more of a late afternoon, nighttime activity since they open at 5:30 p.m.  There are two escape rooms for your choosing. each have a 60 minute time limit and a maximum occupancy of eight people.

Hunter’s Revenge locks you in a cabin and requires your team to work together to escape before the hunter comes back.  You can bet he won’t be happy to find out that people broke into his cabin.  The other room, Jail Break, makes you the bad guy.  You and your team will roleplay as outlaws who are captured and thrown in jail.  Can you breakout before it’s time for your execution? 222 Kanawha Blvd E, Charleston, WV 25301
