Colorado Convention Center – Dining

In Denver, there are nearly limitless options as to where you can grab a bite to eat. This is no different for those at an event at the Colorado Convention Center. There are two eateries conveniently located within the venue, and countless waiting right outside, that will leave you feeling satisfied.

Pizza Republica

Colorado Convention Center

On the corner of the convention center sits a destination for both conference attendees and regular hungry patrons alike. Pizza Republica is not only the location that makes this place a great place to eat, but the restaurant’s commitment to making the most authentic Neapolitan pizza possible.

Pizza Republica follows the exact rules proposed by “Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana,” a non-profit organization in Naples that celebrates and ensures the purest form of Neapolitan pizza. This organization ensures that the pizza is as genuine as possible, from the ingredients to the baking process.

Those at Pizza Republica are committed to making the Neapolitan pizza as genuinely Italian as possible, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a restaurant that is this dedicated when it comes to ensuring guests that their pizza is as close to exact as it should be.

Pizza Republica handmakes their mozzarella. Last year they made over 50,000 pounds of it to adorn their 1000-degree-cooked brick oven pizza. Patrons have delighted in the crispy crust and smoky flavor of the authentic pizza.

Pizza Republica also offers organic, healthy salads along with their homey Italian dishes. In addition to a classic glass of wine from their extensive wine list, Pizza Republica also serves eye-catching cocktails.

Your entire group can find something satisfying at Pizza Republica. Besides, who wouldn’t want some warm pizza after a long day at a conference? Or perhaps you’re going to see a captivating show at the Colorado Convention Center’s Bellco Theatre. You can enjoy some satisfying dinner and a refreshing glass of wine, without having to worry about missing the performance. You couldn’t get a restaurant any closer to the theater.

Which Wich

If you’re looking for a quick bite to satisfy your hunger during your visit to the Colorado Convention Center, Which Wich may be your best bet. This quick and casual sandwich joint inside the Colorado Convention Center has straightforward, convenient meals.

You can pick a sub from their list of favorites, such as Ultimate BLT, Buffalo Chicken, or Black Bean Burgerwich. Or, completely customize your meal by creating your ‘wich from scratch. Which Wich provides plenty of flexibility and variety if you’re in need of a quick, satisfying meal during your time in the Colorado Convention Center. The menu includes vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options as well. Which ‘wich are you going to pick?

Stout Street Social

Directly across the street from the Colorado Convention Center is Stout Street Social. This restaurant calls themselves “purposely eclectic” so you know you’re in for an interesting experience.

Stout Street Social caters well to groups by serving dishes in either small, or shareable large plates. The menu offers a lot of seafood and sushi, shareables and appetizers, salads, burgers and sandwiches, and signature entrees. They have more than 40 craft beers on tap, which is typical in a beer-loving city like Denver.

Their list of signature entrees includes green chile chicken mac and cheese, with blackened chicken breast, green chile-queso sauce, and a tortilla lime crust. You won’t find this inventive dish anywhere else. The savory cheese, smoky chicken, and jolt of citrus are a major twist on the classic chicken and mac combination.

Stout Street Social also offers blackened rocky mountain trout, which comes with dirty rice, seasonal vegetables, and tarragon butter. You may as well dive right into one of the area’s specialties and get a taste of local flavor.

Stout Street Social strikes the perfect balance between a warm and welcoming hangout and a post-conference happy hour. So no matter your reason for visiting the Colorado Convention Center, whether it’s a nerve-wracking professional development event between cubicles and trifolds, or a festive show in the theater, you’ll fit right in at Stout Street Social. They call themselves “social” for a reason!

Henry’s Tavern

Take a ten-minute stroll from the Colorado Convention Center through downtown Denver and swing by Henry’s Tavern. Consider Henry’s your local tavern, where you can grab some satisfying food and be served a beer with a smile. You’ll be joined by people from all over the city, attending an expo at the Colorado Convention Center, watching a show at one of the countless theaters nearby, or hanging out after a game at Coors Field.

Henry’s Tavern is located inside of what once was the main production building of the Blitz-Weinhard Brewery. The former factory’s iconic smokestack was preserved during construction, and can be clearly seen from their courtyard.

Henry’s pays homage to its history by offering more than 100 beers on tap, including some from local breweries with seasonal menus and rare specials.

Not to fear, non-drinkers of beer. Henry’s Tavern has a versatile menu that offers as much as their vast drink list. Enjoy hand-stretched barley malt pizzas, artisan sandwiches, and some dishes you have never hear of.

The “signature Gorgonzola fries” at Henry’s Tavern start with a base of seasoned waffle fries, and are then topped with Gorgonzola crumbles and creamy Gorgonzola sauce.

True cheese lovers can try The Killer Grilled Cheese. This sandwich features three cheeses, jelly, Parmesan-crusted bread, and waffle fries. Upgrade your regular waffle fries for the Gorgonzola fries for a truly “legend-dairy” experience. Want some sandwich with that cheese?

Henry’s burgers are quite outstanding as well. In addition to a mac and cheese burger, the menu totes a Peanut Buster Burger with bacon, sharp Cheddar, peanut butter, and pickles.

The menu is far from boring, and the location is a conversation topic itself. If you’re attending an event in the Colorado Convention Center, Henry’s Tavern will give you plenty to talk about with other attendees. Break the ice by mentioning the fascinating history and unbelievable menu down the street at Henry’s.

5280 Burger Bar

A neighbor to Henry’s Tavern, 5280 Burger Bar is the perfect stop for anyone who wants to indulge in a chef-crafted burger. The restaurant idea generated from two guys who simply love a quality burger, and this love for the dish is made clear when eating at 5280 Burger Bar.

Colorado Convention Center

The quality of a 5280 burger starts at the very beginning of the process. The beef is Colorado-raised and hormone-free, and all the toppings and sauces are made from scratch each day. They even make their American cheese in house!

Enjoy a sunny Colorado day by sitting on their outdoor patio right near the bar. For an appetizer, try the 5280 Gourmet Stadium Nachos that feature slow-smoked pulled pork. You also can’t go wrong with the 5280 pretzel, a classic soft pretzel served with stone ground mustard, and green chili queso for another $1.25.

Any burger from 5280 is going to be great quality, but if you’re looking for something truly outstanding, order The Ring of Fire burger. This is only for those who can stand the heat: Angus beef, Pepper Jack cheese, sauteed habanero and serrano peppers, lettuce, 5280 chipotle mayo, and 5280’s famous “Ring of Fire” sauce. If you eat the entire burger, your next beer is half off. There’s a good chance you’ll need it to wash down all that spice torching your tongue.

You can also cool down by visiting 5280 Ice Cream, their very own creamery located right next door. After your event at the Colorado Convention Center, gather up some fellow burger buffs and head to 5280 Burger Bar.

La Loma

If you enjoy Mexican food, you’ll enjoy La Loma. A 15-minute walk, or five-minute drive, will bring you to a decades-old, family-run business serving up deliciously traditional Mexican meals.

La Loma started out small, but locals began to flock to the restaurant to enjoy their food. La Loma then upgraded into a large, landmark location. For 30 years, they occupied a building created by combining three Victorian mining homes from the 1880s. They are now located in an equally historic spot in the Trinity Building in downtown Denver.

Customers can still get that homey feeling in the cozy dining room while they enjoy what tastes like a homemade meal. The romantically lit restaurant has exposed brick walls, the red brick color warming up the entire atmosphere. Fresh tortillas are quietly made on display in the dining room, adding an additional layer of authenticity. The dark, finished wooden floor adds a polished finish to the simple design of the building, tastefully dotted with traditional decorations and a framed photos of family members.

La Loma has become a staple over the years, and their simple specials are raved about. Grandma’s Green Chili Plate, for example, is one of their most popular dishes. This includes La Loma’s famous green chili served with rice, refried beans, and house-made flour tortillas. Another specialty is the Anniversary Plate. This consists of a sopapilla stuffed with chile relleno, and a chicken flauta topped with guacamole, sour cream, and green chili.

Many customers have mentioned that La Loma upped their standards for Mexican food, and suggested ordering a Cadillac margarita with your dish. If you’re in the Colorado Convention Center, this Denver must-see is only a 15-minute walk away.
