The Tuma Soccer Complex in Marion, Iowa is located on a 110-acre site that includes 32 soccer fields of various sizes, two football fields and a pavilion. It is one of the largest soccer complexes in the U.S. and hosts many tournaments throughout the year.

Marion is a suburb of Cedar Rapids, just 12 miles south of the park. In 1864 the railroad first hit Marion and the town has been an important railway hub ever since. But Marion has more history to it than just the railroad. Named after a hero of the Revolutionary War, Francis Marion, who is considered one of the fathers of modern guerrilla warfare, the site where the town now sits was selected in 1839 to be the first county seat of the newly-organized Linn County.

If you are bringing a team to play at the Tuma Soccer Complex, then you will be looking for some teambuilding, downtime activities for the team members and their families. Here are some places to visit and restaurants to enjoy that you might consider stopping by during your visit.

Go hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, or bird watching on land that’s currently in varying stages of ecological restoration. The Center aims at nothing less than creating “champions of nature.” They believe connecting children to nature is most critical as the young will become the “next generation of environmental stewards.”

Amazing Space, a new building and campus that opened in September 2016, offers endless opportunities for exploration and discovery. Explore interactively at the Watershed Table, measure the energy solar panels produce at the Energy Portal, or snatch some raw honey in the Creekside Shop. Experience the spectacular Bird Room.
