About Pennsylvania Convention Center
In the 1980's state and regional leaders were planning a new convention center to be built in the heart of the city due to most events moving to the Spectrum in South Philadelphia. In 1993 they opened the Pennsylvania Convention Center and most events including the annual Philadelphia Flower Show moved to the new facility. The center consists of four halls, smaller auditorium and meeting rooms and the Grand Hall which resides in the train shed of the former Reading Railroad terminal. In 2006 the convention began a renovation and expansion costing $7 million to create the one million square feet of additional space which was completed in 2011.
