North Coast Harbor District

The North Coast Harbor District in Cleveland sits on the shore of Lake Erie and offers a whole bunch of fun activities for the team.

The Great Lakes Science Center and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame make a perfect double-header for an afternoon of exploration.

The Great Lakes Science Center is a super cool, interactive space where you can play with electricity and tornadoes and experience life aboard the International Space Station. Get up close and personal with the gigantic, 150-foot turbine on the front lawn, which provides about seven percent of the center’s annual electricity.

When you’re done exploring, head across the street to the iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, filled to the brim with memorabilia, art, and music from the birth of rock to the present day.

See Jim Morrison’s Boy Scout uniform, Iggy Pop’s outrageous stage costumes, and scores of hand-written lyrics, famous portraits, and artifacts from the childhoods of some of America’s most cherished rock stars.

Head down the lakefront a stretch to the USS Cod, a decommissioned submarine from WWII and the only one of its kind that you can actually explore. Climb aboard the nearby Steamship William G. Mather and wander the gigantic cargo holds, four-story engine room, impressive pilot house, and cozy guest quarters.

 

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo lies on 165 wooded acres of land surrounded by the bustling city. This award-winning zoo features animals from all over the world in settings that mirror their natural habitats.

A roaring, 25-foot waterfall and ancient temple ruins welcome you to the two-acre, enclosed Rain Forest exhibit that houses exotic species like marmosets and golden lion tamarins. Over at Wolf Wilderness, you’ll learn all about the fascinating lives of wolves in the wild and see Mexican wolves up close. Keep an eye out for the resident bald eagle, and be sure to watch the beavers at work from the underwater viewing station. The new elephant exhibit gives you front-row seats to the goings on of these huge animals, and you won’t want to miss the impressive shark exhibit.

The 1,000-passenger luxury ship invites you to explore her various decks, nooks, and crannies, or take a seat and enjoy the view out the large windows as you cruise along.

Great Lake Science Center

Any avid science lovers are going to want to check out the Great Lakes Science Center. The science center goes heavy on the sci-fiction displays and movies. There are over 400 exhibits overall scattered throughout the facility.

Milk a cow in the Dairy Parlor, and learn firsthand how milking machines work. Go on a scenic wagon ride around the property, and watch cheese being made in the Dairy Processing Room.

Meet and feed chickens, sheep, cows, goats, pigs, and alpacas, and try your hand at grinding corn at The Grain Place.
