California Living Museum
More of a zoo than a museum, California Living Museum, or CALM, is a conservation center devoted to the care of native California animals. CALM is not a standard zoo like you would expect. If you are hoping to see elephants, lions, zebras, and animals of that nature, you are out of luck. CALM does however house and care for a lot of animals specifically native to the state. All of the animals found at CALM have been rescued from the wild and cared for because they were injured or were at one point peoples’ exotic pets. Some of the animals you can expect to find there are bears, cougars, and pelicans. If you and your team visit around Halloween or Christmas, CALM sets up displays of lights and decorations that are worth checking out. Camelot Park
If you asked your team to decide between go-karts, mini golf, or an arcade, most of them probably wouldn’t be able to choose one. Fortunately, at Camelot Park, they won’t have to. Zoom around Camelot’s track in one of their speedy go-karts. Kids must be at least 56 inches tall to drive and 40 inches to be a passenger. Race your team and see who comes out on top. Split up into a couple groups and work on your putting skills on one of the two wonderfully landscaped mini golf courses. This is another activity that gets your team up and moving, perfect for after a game to get rid of that leftover energy. Rush Air Sports has a lot of trampoline related fun for the whole team. For the more casual jumper, the freestyle jump area and foam zone are worth trying. Bounce around unrestricted on the floor and walls and dive into a massive foam pit until you get too tired. Dodgeball and a trampoline basketball dunking section will put your athleticism to the test and provide a more competitive environment. Rush Air Sports offers a few out of the ordinary activities as well. Run around in a giant hamster ball and ricochet off of your teammates. Fight an opponent on the Battle Beam, or attempt to overcome the ninja course. Sam Lynn Ballpark
Home of the professional baseball team the Bakersfield Train Robbers, Sam Lynn Ballpark is one of the oldest stadiums around. The Train Robbers are a part of the Pecos League, an independent professional baseball league based in the desert mountain regions in south western states. Purchase some very reasonably priced tickets and enjoy an awesome game. The fans are a friendly bunch and will only add to the Sam Lynn Ballpark experience. Buena Vista Museum of Natural History & Science
Take a step back in time and explore life in the past through collections of artifacts. Venture through the halls of Buena Vista Museum of Natural History & Science. Buena Vista has three floors of exhibits and artifacts to see and learn about. Discover dinosaur fossils and truly appreciate how large these beasts were. The dinosaur enthusiasts of the group will go crazy over these exhibits. Also housed in the museum is an extensive collection of Native American artifacts. If it starts to get hot out, Bakersfield has the perfect place for you to go. Enjoy a dip in the pool at McMurtrey Aquatic Center. With multiple outdoor pools and one heated indoor pool, you can always count on McMurtrey having room for your team to swim. They will love the pool adjacent winding slides. There’s really no better way to enter a pool than sliding into it and making a huge splash.
