Jacob K. Javits Convention Center – Dining
Much like the eclectic mix of people who live there, the New York City food scene is a veritable melting pot. The city’s primary convention center, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, reflects this with its variety of on-site dining options.
It makes sense that the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center has significantly more dining options than the average convention center, since this is a convention center that’s anything but average. Despite being only the 12th-largest convention center in the U.S., the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center plays host to major events like New York Comic Con and the New York International Auto Show.
As the gathering place for such well-known events, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center brings more than two million visitors to the Big Apple each year. That’s a lot of different taste buds to accommodate, which is why the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center’s selection of on-site eateries ranges from run-of-the-mill Starbucks to quick service restaurants specializing in Greek, Vietnamese, and other types of international cuisines.
If you’re wondering what dining options will be available to you during your upcoming visit to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, take a look at the list below.
Starbucks
Believe it or not, New York City is home to more than 300 Starbucks, two of which are located inside the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. One is located in the concourse on Level 2 near the facility’s transportation stand. The other Starbucks is on Level 3, an area of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center known as the Crystal Palace, across from a Hudson Booksellers.
These two Starbucks serve all of the lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, mochas, and other specialty drinks fans of the coffeehouse chain would expect to find. Hungry conventiongoers can also order pastries like croissants and muffins, as well as sandwiches, wraps, and other quick bites that pair perfectly with a caffeinated beverage.
Taste NY Bistro
Opened in 2016, the Taste NY Bistro is one of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center’s newest and most unique dining options. It is located on Level 2 of the facility, adjacent to the Starbucks also on that floor.
This eatery is affiliated with the Taste NY program started by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2013. As you could probably tell by the name, Taste NY aims to highlight the “quality, diversity, and economic impact of food and beverages grown, produced, or processed in New York State.”
Some of the locally sourced food and beverage offerings you can expect to find at the Taste NY Bistro include soups, salads, sandwiches, and baked goods, along with beverages like beers, wines, and ciders. This way locals and out-of-towners alike can enjoy some of the best culinary experiences that New York has to offer during their visit to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
Food Court
For even more dining options, head to the food court located on Level 1. The vendors there change from time to time, but some that you can probably expect to see include Agape Greek Gyro, Mendy’s Kosher Delicatessen, and Vietnamese Central. Respectively, these eateries serve mouthwatering gyros; Jewish deli classics like Reuben sandwiches and knishes; and exotic Vietnamese specialties, such as pho.
If these international offerings don’t strike your fancy, the food court features plenty of places to get more familiar foods like pizza and burgers too. There are also a few venue machines located near the food court that are open on event move-in and move-out days.
Crystal Palace Marketplace
The Crystal Palace Marketplace is another recent addition to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center’s already extensive assortment of dining options. As indicated by its name, this food court is located on Level 3 of the convention center in an area known as the Crystal Palace.
What sets the Crystal Palace Marketplace apart from the lower-level food court and other dining options at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center is that everything served by the vendors there is cooked to order. So, if you’re in the mood for something on the lighter, fresher side, such as salads, tacos and tortas, a traditional Mexican sandwich, the Crystal Palace Marketplace is where you can go to please your palate.
