Charlotte Convention Center – Dining

Like many states in the South, North Carolina is known for great Southern cooking and hospitality. Charlotte, North Carolina, is no different. You’ll be in foodie bliss when trying all of the delicious Southern cuisines.

When you visit the Charlotte Convention Center, you’ll be in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, which has over 200 restaurants in close proximity to the convention center. That’s a lot of restaurants to sort through. From places in the Charlotte Convention Center to eateries within walking distance, here is a list of recommendations to help you refine your options.

Charlotte Convention Center

Many of the dining options in the convention center’s Delish Food Court are chain restaurants with which you’re likely familiar. They’re good options if you need to grab a bite in between sessions. If you’re looking for breakfast or brunch options or perhaps that surge of caffeine, you can stop by the Starbucks or Einstein Bros. Bagels.

If you’re seeking lunch and dinner options, you can find Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits and Buon Cibo in the Delish Food Court. Bojangles serves a variety of fried chicken meals and sandwiches. Buon Cibo has pasta, salads, and pizzas available.

Waterbean Coffee

At Waterbean Coffee, they value community and quality. They want their customers to feel at home and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of organic coffee. The baristas take their time to prepare each cup of coffee by hand. If you don’t want a coffee or espresso, there are 35 loose leaf teas available as well.

For food, there are a few different sandwich options, like banh mi and Sizzlewiches that are made to order, and freshly baked pastries. Waterbean is also well known for their French macarons. This coffee shop is a short five-minute drive from the Charlotte Convention Center, but if you have time to kill, you could instead opt for a 19-minute walk.

Green’s Lunch

A local favorite for decades, Green’s Lunch opened in 1926 and continues to proudly serve the Charlotte community. Even though it’s labeled as a lunch spot, there are options for a hearty breakfast as well.

For breakfast, Green’s serves up various egg sandwiches, omelets, and pancakes. During lunch, visitors will find hot dogs, hamburgers, and sandwiches, including some grilled cheese sandwiches. This eatery is only a half-mile from the Charlotte Convention Center.

French Quarter Restaurant

The French Quarter Restaurant is a lively American-style pub that has traditional pub food and some Cajun flare. It’s only a six-minute walk from the Charlotte Convention Center, and well worth a visit for lunch or dinner.

Being a pub, there are, of course, burgers, steak sandwiches, wings, and an impressive beer selection. However, there is a Cajun twist to this menu with dishes like Cajun chicken pasta, Cajun salmon, shrimp po’ boy, and Cajun chicken wrap. If you’re a Carolina Hurricanes fan, there is even a special menu for game days.

Alexander Michael’s

Charlotte Convention CenterAnother pub to check out while in Uptown Charlotte is Alexander Michael’s. This pub is a locally owned eatery that opened in 1983. There are a ton of great brews to try, and the food is typical of a pub. They have a variety of sandwiches, including Buffalo chicken, a Reuben, and London broil.

Alexander Michael’s also serves up high-end entrees, such as honey chicken pasta, blackened catfish, and shrimp or chicken marsala. If this pub appeals to you, keep in mind that they do not take reservations. It is on a first come, first serve basis. Alexander Michael’s is located within a six-minute drive from the Charlotte Convention Center.

Pizzeria Sapienza CLT

Charlotte Convention CenterRoughly the same distance from the Charlotte Convention Center as Alexander Michael’s is Pizzeria Sapienza CLT. In case you’re tired of all the Southern cooking and barbecue, here’s an Italian cuisine option.

Just because the name says pizzeria, they do have more than just pizza here. Along with 17 pizzas, there are also calzones, stromboli, wings, pasta, and sandwiches. If you’re in a rush, you can order online as well.
