LakePoint Sporting Community – Dining

LakePoint Sporting Community is one of largest and most unique amateur sports complexes in not only the country, but the world. Spanning more than 1,300 acres in the sleepy suburban city of Emerson, Georgia, LakePoint Sporting Community features a wide range of venues.

The venues at LakePoint Sporting Community include eight baseball fields, three multi-purpose fields, 10 beach volleyball courts, and three cable wakeboarding pools. There’s also the 170,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Champions Center, an indoor facility with 12 basketball courts that can be converted into 24 volleyball courts.

That’s not all LakePoint Sporting Community has to offer, however. Setting them even further apart from other sports complexes are their on-site hotels, dining options, and entertainment venue, LakePoint Station. It’s no wonder they tout themselves as a travel sports “destination.”

Speaking of dining options, there’s a lot of them both at and around LakePoint Sporting Community. That’s why we’ve put together this list of restaurants visitors to the complex can eat at during their time there. Read on to find out more!

Scott’s Walk-Up Bar-B-Q

You can’t take a trip to the South without having some barbecue. That’d be like going to Nashville and not having hot chicken, or skipping deep-dish pizza while in Chicago. It just isn’t something you do.

Fortunately, LakePoint Sporting Community is less than a 10-minute drive from one of the area’s best barbecue joints, Scott’s Walk-Up Bar-B-Q. It might not look like much from the outside; or the inside, for that matter; but that’s exactly what makes this place such a hidden gem.

True to their name, Scott’s Walk-Up Bar-B-Q features a counter where patrons walk up to to place their order. Once your order is placed, take a seat at one of the tables in their no-frills dining room, and they’ll bring over your food when it’s ready.

The menu at Scott’s features a variety of slow-smoked meats, including pulled pork, pork loin, ribs, chicken, sausage, brisket, and wings. If you’re there on a Friday, you can also get your hands on some deliciously crispy burnt ends.

While the meats are the stars of the show at Scott’s, and rightfully so, their sauces, sides, and desserts are all great too. They also have a breakfast menu with meat-filled biscuit sandwiches available Tuesday to Saturday from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Bangin’ Burgers and Wings

Just a mile down the road from Scott’s Walk-Up Bar-B-Q is another hidden gem, Bangin’ Burgers and Wings. Look past this restaurant’s nondescript exterior and you’ll be treated to some truly amazing eats.

LakePoint Sporting CommunityWith a name like “Bangin’ Burgers and Wings,” you’re probably expecting to find a menu full of burgers and wings. And you’d be right. Well, half-right. That’s because in addition to burgers and wings, they also serve plenty of other delicious dishes. Some of these other dishes include salads, wraps, sandwiches, and specials like beef ribs as big as your head.

But back to the burgers and wings. They’ve got a lot of options for both, so be prepared to do some decision-making if that’s what you’re there for. Their menu includes seven specialty burgers, plus a burger of the week, and 10 different wing sauces.

El Charro Mexican Grill

LakePoint Sporting CommunityEl Charro’s got a big menu, and all the dishes on it are made using authentic, time-tested recipes and fresh ingredients. Start your meal off right with one of their appetizers, such as guacamole made tableside or choriqueso dip made with melted cheese and spicy chorizo sausage.

As for entrees, El Charro’s menu features a mix of both familiar favorites, like tacos and burritos, and others you definitely don’t see every day. Some of their more uncommon offerings include flautas verdes, a dish composed of three fried flour tortillas topped with salsa verde, and a chimichanga filled with your choice of beef or chicken.
