Myrtle Beach Sports Center

Rise and shine! There is no time to waste on your trip to Myrtle Beach. Start the day with breakfast at the Sea Captain’s House, a popular local restaurant that’s a little over a mile from the Myrtle Beach Sports Center.

The Sea Captain’s House offers a buffet-style breakfast that includes pancakes, omelets, pastries, and everything in between. You can also order individual breakfast dishes too if you aren’t feeling particularly hungry. Some of these dishes include crab cakes Benedict, a playful take on the breakfast classic, eggs Benedict; biscuits and gravy, and a fresh fruit and yogurt parfait.

In addition to delicious food, the Sea Captain’s House also provides patrons with wonderful oceanfront views. All in all, this is a quintessential Myrtle Beach dining experience that’s not to be missed.

After finishing your meal, head over to Broadway at the Beach, an outdoor shopping center and entertainment complex. Getting there from the Sea Captain’s House should take less than 10 minutes by car.

In addition to stores and restaurants, Broadway at the Beach is also home to lots of neat attractions. These include WonderWorks, Soar + Explore, Topgolf, and many more.

Brainiacs, rejoice! WonderWorks is like an amusement park for the mind. This attraction features over 100 hands-on exhibits designed to challenge your brain and tug on your imagination.

WonderWorks is split up into six WondersZones for you to explore: Imagination Lab, Far Out Art Gallery, Space Discovery, Light & Sound Zone, Natural Disasters, and Physical Challenge Zone. You can also find the Soar + Explore zip line and ropes course there.

Soar + Explore is an outdoor adventure that consists of a zip line and ropes course. It’s an attraction that’s fun for daredevils of all ages. The zip line is 1,000 feet long and soars 50 feet high above water. The ropes course, standing 40 feet tall and spanning three levels, will put your climbing skills to the test. Prepare to be taken to exciting new heights as you navigate Soar + Explore.

Topgolf is another one of Broadway at the Beach’s attractions. This futuristic driving range features over 70 climate-controlled hitting bays and a sprawling outfield with giant targets to aim for. Their microchipped golf balls allow players to track their shots and compare stats with friends. When you’re done playing, head up to the rooftop terrace to enjoy a drink around the fire pit.

If you’re not interested in visiting WonderWorks or Topgolf and would rather go shopping instead, here are some of the stores you can browse at Broadway at the Beach: Claire’s, Crocs, IT’SUGAR, Lids, The Paula Deen Store, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Sunglass Hut, and Yankee Candle.

Noon

Once noon rolls around, grab lunch at Lulu’s Cafe. This quaint, 1950s-themed eatery is conveniently located one and a half miles from Broadway at the Beach, so you can either walk or drive there.

The menu at Lulu’s Cafe features all sorts of classic American dishes. Some of their lunchtime offerings include burgers, sandwiches, salads, and baskets filled with everything from chicken fingers to fish and chips. Whatever you order, make sure to wash it down with one of their brunch cocktails, such as a mimosa, Bloody Mary, or spiked Arnold Palmer.

Now that you’ve had your fill of food and drink, take a ride over to Alligator Adventure, the next stop on your Myrtle Beach itinerary. This attraction is located in North Myrtle Beach, a 20-minute drive up the coast from Lulu’s Cafe.

Despite being the self-proclaimed “reptile capital of the world,” Alligator Adventure is home to more animals than just its namesake crocodilian. Some of the other fascinating creatures you’ll encounter during your visit include bobcats, flamingos, frogs, lemurs, snakes, turtles, and more!

While coming face to face all sorts of different animals is certainly cool, no visit to Alligator Adventure is complete without catching one of their live shows. Alligator feedings run from mid-April through mid-October, while alligator handling and lecture shows take place during the cooler months when alligators don’t normally eat. They also offer snake handling shows, which, as you could probably imagine, aren’t for the faint of heart.

If getting up close and personal with alligators, snakes, and other animals simply isn’t the activity for you, adjacent to Broadway at the Beach is the aerial attraction, Helicopter Adventures. With Helicopter Adventures you have the opportunity to ride in a real helicopter and see Myrtle Beach like you never have before.

Tours start at only $20 per person, so flying with Helicopter Adventures is an exceptionally affordable experience. Also, it’s recommended that you schedule your flight ahead of time to avoid any lines and get you up in the air faster.

Night

As the sun begins to set over Myrtle Beach, it’s time to start thinking about where to have dinner. Fortunately for you, dinnertime options abound in and around this seaside city.

One particularly popular restaurant is the Dead Dog Saloon. It’s located approximately 20 minutes south of Myrtle Beach and 30 minutes from the Myrtle Beach Sports Center. With delicious food, live music, three bars, and a slew of big-screen TVs, the Dead Dog Saloon is the ultimate happy hour hangout.

Another option worth considering is one of the three Bennett’s Calabash locations dotted along the coast. The Bennett’s Calabash closest to the Myrtle Beach Sports Center is on North Kings Highway, next to the Sea Captain’s House.

Bennett’s Calabash has been serving fresh, delicious seafood for over 40 years. Interestingly enough, Bennett’s Calabash was the first restaurant in Myrtle Beach to offer an all-you can eat seafood buffet back when they first opened in 1985. Most famous for their succulent Alaskan snow crab legs, Bennett’s Calabash is a local favorite you definitely don’t want to miss.

When you’re all done with dinner, drive or walk over to the beach to try and catch the last of the sunset. It shouldn’t take too long to get there on foot from Bennett’s Calabash. Sunsets in Myrtle Beach are particularly stunning thanks to the vast, wide-open coastline, so make sure to bring your camera or free up some space on your smartphone.

After you’ve scored some photos of the sunset, drive over to the House of Blues to enjoy some drinks and live music. Be sure to check their website ahead of time to find out what acts will be playing there while you’re in town. The House of Blues is a little over 10 miles from the Myrtle Beach Sports Center.

Myrtle Beach Sports CenterIf you’re looking for a more relaxing way to end the night, go for a ride on the SkyWheel. This sky-high Ferris wheel is located less than a 10-minute drive from both the Myrtle Beach Sports Center and Bennett’s Calabash.

The SkyWheel has been spinning since May 2011, and for a while, it was the second-tallest Ferris wheel in North America. Standing 187 feet tall, the SkyWheel provides breathtaking 360-degree views of Myrtle Beach from its 42 glass-enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas. The ride lasts about 10 minutes, and you can buy your tickets online ahead of time to help you get up in the air sooner. What a way to end your day!

It goes without saying that Myrtle Beach has a lot to offer. Whether you plan to put your courage to the test at Soar + Explore or Alligator Adventure, shop till you drop at Broadway at the Beach, or just take it easy at the Dead Dog Saloon, we hope you enjoy your trip to Myrtle Beach and the Myrtle Beach Sports Center.
