Big League Dreams Sports Park in League City, Texas, is an expansive baseball complex that was named the “Best Sports Complex in America” by the Sports Complex Owners and Developers Association. What makes Big League Dreams Sports Park unique is that its fields modeled after famous stadiums. Teams will feel like pros when they play in a replica Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, or Wrigley Field.

Travel back in time by visiting West Bay Common School Children’s Museum, located inside of a schoolhouse from 1898. The school was last used in 1936, before a group of tireless volunteers restored and turned it into a museum. The League City Historical Society owns the museum, and goes above and beyond to create an outstanding experience.

This museum doesn’t rely on just artifacts and signs to educate its visitors. Guests are completely immersed as they assume the role of a student and experience a 19th-century classroom firsthand. A schoolteacher leads a lesson featuring pen and ink writing, reciting from a book, solving math problems on a slate, and participating in a spelling bee. Afterwards, guests head outside to enjoy recess.

The purpose of the West Bay Common School Children’s Museum is to showcase the ever-changing education system and provide an experiential history lesson for kids. Admission is $5 per person, and the museum is only 12 minutes from Big League Dreams Sports Park.

Butler Longhorn Museum

One of Texas’s icons is the Longhorn, a once-endangered cattle breed that originated in the state. Milby Butler, a Longhorn breeder from the early 1900s, was well known for his efforts to preserve the breed. Many even consider the Butler family to be one of the founding families of League City.

The Butler Longhorn Museum, 13 minutes from Big League Dreams Sports Park, was created in his honor. This three-story museum features art, history exhibits, and artifacts that teach visitors about Butler and the Longhorn cattle breed.

The museum even includes taxidermied Longhorns, allowing guests to see them up close. The Butler Longhorn Museum also contains “Miss John Wayne,” a Longhorn that appeared in the 1960 film The Alamo. Challenger Seven Memorial Park

In January of 1986, the nation was horrified after NASA’s Space Shuttle Challenger exploded soon after takeoff, killing all seven crew members. The Challenger Seven Memorial Park does justice to the fallen heroes, as it’s one of the most expansive and popular green spaces in League City.

The Challenger Seven Memorial Park features wetlands, a lengthy boardwalk, docks, playgrounds, and viewing areas where guests can enjoy the natural beauty. 100 acres of the park are a designated bird sanctuary that is officially sanctioned by the Audubon Society. It’s the perfect destination for an easy hike, and is a popular place for locals to escape into nature. Space Center Houston

Big League Dreams Sports Park is located 18 minutes from Space Center Houston, a fascinating attraction for all ages. Visitors could easily spend an entire day here, learning about space travel and NASA via educational and interactive exhibits.

Space Center Houston houses multiple aircraft that have traveled into space, such as rockets, an airplane, a lunar roving trainer, and a replica shuttle. Guests can learn about space travel by visiting Mission Control and an astronaut training facility. Artifacts at Space Center Houston include test ejection seats and rocks from the moon and mars.

There is also an exhibit about the evolution of space suits featuring uniforms worn by famous astronauts throughout history. This includes a suit worn by NASA’s longest serving astronaut, John Young, and inflight overalls worn by the first American woman in space, Sally Ride.

Kemah Boardwalk is packed with activities, including more than 10 restaurants, a hotel, a 400-slip marina, and plenty of shops. It’s free to walk along the boardwalk, and you may be in luck and see festivals and live shows.

In addition to everything the boardwalk has to offer, the amusement park is a huge draw for families. There are plenty of rides and attractions to enjoy, such as a Ferris wheel, carousel, swing rides, roller coasters, and more.
