With over 27 miles of trails on over 3,000 acres, there’s something to see over every hill and around every corner. Denver Mint

The Denver Mint is a fascinating place, and you’ll definitely want to go behind the scenes on a free guided tour. Watch in wonder as the precision machines cut, stamp, count, and bag coins so efficiently that they can produce millions of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters every day.

Make a reservation online in advance to be sure you get a place on the tour, and remember, this is a heavily-guarded Federal facility where cash money gets made, and they don’t just let people in willy-nilly.

There’s a list of things you can’t have on you during the tour, including purses and bags, and you’ll go through a security screening complete with metal detectors and x-ray machines, which can be a pretty interesting experience in and of  itself.

Red Rocks Park

Denver is a fun, exciting metropolis, but it’s surrounding landscape is weird and wild enough that you won’t want to miss the opportunity to explore it.

Red Rocks Park, just 25 minutes from Denver proper, is home to the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater. It also offers a number of exciting hiking trails, including the Trading Post Trail, a short, hour-long loop hike that takes you past 10 of the ginormous red rock formations the park is named after.
