Denver – Things to do with your Team

Denver is the capital of Colorado and the biggest city in the state, sitting in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. Established in the days of the Gold Rush, Denver has a bold, colorful history that’s on full display against modern skyscrapers and contemporary city life.

There’s no shortage of fun things for your team to do in the Mile High City. Here are some of the best team building activities Denver has to offer.

Elitch Gardens Theme Park

Thrills await at Elitch Gardens, Denver’s primo adventure park featuring 53 rides, including high-speed coasters like the 7-story high, looping Brain Drain or the Mind Eraser, a feet-dangling ride that dives and double-corkscrews at more than 50 miles per hour.

The latest addition to the park is the Star Flyer, one of the tallest rides in Colorado at 17 stories high. You’ll sit in an open-air seat as you’re swung around and around at breakneck speed while enjoying the views of the Denver skyline as much as the adrenaline rush.

Admission to the park includes access to the water park, where you can scream down the 65-foot tall Acapulco Cliff Dive free-fall slide and get spun around and swallowed up on the fierce Slidezilla, a 6-story monster slide that’ll get your adrenaline flowing. 2000 Elitch Cir, Denver, CO 80204

12 Mile Stables

About 25 miles southwest of Denver you’ll find 12 Mile Stables, offering scenic trail rides atop  tame horses. You don’t need any riding experience to enjoy the one to two hour guided rides, where you can channel your inner cowboy or cowgirl and commune with nature.

With over 27 miles of trails on over 3,000 acres, there’s something to see over every hill and around every corner. The Sunset Dinner Ride is a local favorite and offers a perfect vantage point for enjoying the colorful Colorado sunset over the mountains, followed by plates piled high with barbecue beef brisket, chicken, cowboy baked beans, and potato salad. It’s a delicious ending to a hard day of adventuring. 5547 S Parker Rd, Aurora, CO 80014

Denver Mint

The Denver Mint is a fascinating place, and you’ll definitely want to go behind the scenes on a free guided tour. Watch in wonder as the precision machines cut, stamp, count, and bag coins so efficiently that they can produce millions of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters every day.

Make a reservation online in advance to be sure you get a place on the tour, and remember, this is a heavily-guarded Federal facility where cash money gets made, and they don’t just let people in willy-nilly.

There’s a list of things you can’t have on you during the tour, including purses and bags, and you’ll go through a security screening complete with metal detectors and x-ray machines, which can be a pretty interesting experience in and of  itself.

However, the requirements to enter are well worth getting a firsthand look at the inner workings of one of the most interesting and storied institutions in the history of the country. 320 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204

Red Rocks Park

Denver is a fun, exciting metropolis, but it’s surrounding landscape is weird and wild enough that you won’t want to miss the opportunity to explore it.

Red Rocks Park, just 25 minutes from Denver proper, is home to the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater. It also offers a number of exciting hiking trails, including the Trading Post Trail, a short, hour-long loop hike that takes you past 10 of the ginormous red rock formations the park is named after. You’ll traverse mountain meadows and enjoy scenic bluff overlooks that offer sweeping views of the Front Range, and if you keep an eye peeled, you might see a family of red foxes or a herd of mule deer.

The nearby amphitheater is naturally formed and well-known for its amazing natural acoustics, and you can wander around pretty freely if there’s not an event going on. Daily scheduled tours of the facilities give you a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at how a major concert venue works, from the sound booth to the stage. 18300 W Alameda Pkwy, Morrison, CO 80465

Broncos Stadium at Mile High and Coors Field

Denver - Things to do with your Team - Travel - Hotels4TeamsSports lovers will enjoy getting behind-the-scenes glimpses of stadium life on a guided tour of Broncos Stadium at Mile High, the home of the NFL’s Denver Broncos, or Coors Field, home of MLB’s Colorado Rockies.

The Mile High tour is about 90 minutes long and takes you through the executive suites, the locker rooms, the keg room, the field entrance tunnel, and the field itself, among other locations.

The Coors Field Tour lasts about 80 minutes and takes you on a mile-long journey through the inner workings of this state-of-the-art MLB ballpark.

Both tours recommend advance tickets to ensure you’ll get a spot on a tour, since they have limited space. 1701 Bryant St, Denver, CO 80204; 2001 Blake St, Denver, CO 80205

City Park

Denver’s answer to New York’s Central Park is the expansive and family-centered City Park. Here, you’ll find placid lakes and beautiful fountains nestled among green, rolling hills and colorful flower gardens.

This 314-acre space offers incredible views of the Denver skyline and the Rocky Mountains. It’s also home to the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Both of these state-of-the-art facilities offer interactive exhibits and activities that fascinate and inspire. 2300 Steele St, Denver, CO 80205; 2001 Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80205

Water World

If you’re looking for a place to cool down and burn off some energy, grab your swimsuit and head to Water World, one of the country’s largest family water parks.

Just 15 minutes north of downtown Denver, Water World is situated on 70 landscaped acres and is home to 48 attractions, including 25 thrill rides with names like Double Dare, Pirate’s Plunge, Ragin’ Colorado River, and Warp Speed.

The Thunder Bay Wave Pool sends wave after wave to lift you off your feet before crashing to shore, and the Voyage to the Center of the Earth tube ride takes you through dimly lit caverns past animatronic dinosaurs and other cool displays. You’ll want to spend a few solid hours here riding the rides and sliding the slides. 8801 N. Pecos Street, Federal Heights, CO 80260
