Carolina Courts – Kid-Friendly Attractions

Carolina Courts in Indian Trail, North Carolina, is a great place to go for a pick-up game of basketball, volleyball, or pickleball. The courts can be rented out for some playtime, but there’s a ton of other things to do around town with your kids besides group sports.

Country Time Equestrian Events

Kids and adults alike will love the gentle horseback rides along beautiful woods and farmland scenery offered at Country Time Equestrian Events. Different types of rides are able to fit any occasion, whether it be a casual visit with your family, a romantic private tour, or a lesson on basic horseback riding for beginners. Rentable horse-drawn carriages are available to make special moments even more memorable. 

The tours are guided by a seasoned Wrangler and no experience is needed on your part, so first-timers are welcome! Each ride takes you through scenic farmland and gentle woods, providing a picturesque experience.

Trails Dynasty Miniature Golf and Creamery

Family time is always better with a little competition! The greatest part of a round of golf at Trails Dynasty Miniature Golf and Creamery is that win or lose, it can end with ice cream. The mini golf course is a mere eight minute drive from Carolina Courts, and they offer 32 flavors of Hershey’s ice cream to complement their 18 holes of mini golf. The course has a variety of easy and challenging holes, so it could really be anyone’s game. 

 

Wise Acres

If you go to Indian Trail in the spring or fall, drop by Wise Acres, which is only a 15-minute drive from Carolina Courts. The farm offers organic pick-your-own strawberries in the spring and pumpkins in the fall, along with wagon rides through the woods. Kids will love picking their own fruits straight from the source in the strawberry fields or pumpkin patch. The store section sells homemade goodies that are either straight from the farm or the surrounding area, such as jarred vegetables and honey. 

The farm also hosts an animal meet and greet complete with goats, pigs, chickens, and rabbits. While it is not a petting zoo, you can pet and feed the animals through the fence. 

Wood-fired pizza made with fresh ingredients from the farm is available on weekends, along with other concessions and beverages. Seasonal specialty food and drinks, such as cold brew coffee in the early summertime, makes a trip to the farm special no matter when you visit.

 

Kate’s Skating Rink

If your children need to get out some energy, take them to Kate’s Skating Rink. There you’ll find a large skating rink with music, lights, and plenty of games. Roller skates are rentable for a low price, but the pro shop also sells customizable skates and gear. 

Each day of the week has a different family deal. Each includes pizza and drinks, along with a certain amount of tickets for a flat rate. Themed events take place throughout the year, such as a special sip and skate night for adults only. Mascots and characters make appearances on the rink that kids can interact and skate with. As you can see, there’s a good chance you’ll skate into something interesting at Kate’s!

 

Extreme Ice Center

If skating on a rink isn’t your thing, try skating on ice instead! Extreme Ice Center is a great place to cool down during those hot North Carolina summers and create a magical winter moment during the colder months. It’s also a convenient 7-minute drive from Carolina Courts. The rink is perfect for beginners since it offers Bobby the Seal, a plastic seal that new skaters can lean against and push along the ice to help keep themselves upright. 

The rink hosts pick-up hockey games for 18 and up players, as well as hosting several hockey and figure skating teams. A core studio Pilates center is available upstairs to keep parents active while the kids skate.

 

Crooked Creek Park

Crooked Creek Park is a great place to enjoy the nature of North Carolina when the weather is nice. This park is full of family-friendly features, including walking trails, baseball and softball diamonds, a disc golf course, and outdoor fitness equipment. There are grills and picnic tables available as well if you’re interested in having a cookout. The dog park is great to spend some quality time with your canine. 

Two playgrounds and a splashpad are among the highlights of Crooked Creek Park. The splashpad includes all sorts of water features that are great for those hot summer days. Kids will love the mini zip line that swings them through the nature-themed playground. Musically inclined children can make some noise with all of the different types of musical equipment as well.
