The David L. Lawrence Convention Center was finished on February 7, 1981 and consists of 1,500,000 square feet of exhibition, conference and convention space. David L. Lawrence was an American Politician who worked for the Democratic Governor of Pennsylvania and was the only mayor of Pittsburgh to be elected Governor of Pennsylvania. This center is located on the southern shoreline of the Allegheny River and is owned by the Sports and Exhibition Authoruty of Pittsburg and Allegheny County. In 2003 there was a renewal plan and the center was completely redesigned and renovated. The center is home for the Pittsburgh RV Show, Pittsburgh Boat Show, Piratefest, Pittsburgh International Auto Show, Anthrocon and the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show.
