About Duke Energy Convention Center
In 1968 the Cincinnati Convention-Exposition Center was opened with 95,000 square feet and a total cost of $10 million. At this time, it was the only building of its size and space flexibility which allowed for them to handle events that other venues could not. In 1984 there was a remodel and expansion, increasing the space by 275,000 square feet making the new total footage 561,000. In 1987 the building was opened as the Albert B. Sabin Convention and Exposition Center, named after Dr. Albert Sabin. Dr. Albert Sabin created the oral polio vaccine when he was working at the Cincinnati Children's hospital. In 2006, the center was reopend as the Cinergy Center with an additional 200,000 square feet of space. It was then renamed that same year as the Duke Energy Convention Center. In 2010 they hosted many important international and national figures such as the Dalai Lama. In 2012 there was several national and international conventions and meetings which included the World Choir Games and ASI International Convention.
