About SKI Brule

Ski Brule is a ski area located in Stambaugh Township, Iron County, near Iron River, Michigan. Its claim to fame is that it tries to open earlier and close later in the season than other nearby ski hills. It has sixteen ski runs and eleven ski lifts. The trails include two black diamonds, two terrain trails through the woods (one is rated black diamond due to the trail width and a tight turn), six blue square trails, four green circle trails, and a snowboard arena. All lifts converge at the same general point on the hill and the runs spread out and around the hill.

The runs are groomed on a nightly basis and occasionally Ski Brule will build moguls on Otter Slide. Ski Brule's NASTAR course is on Whitewater (which is sometimes closed due to racing events) and its most challenging trail is Big Bear.

Because of its location and snow making capability, Brule is the first and last ski resort in the Upper Peninsula to be open. Sometimes it opens as early as October.

Ski Brule facilities include the main lodge, a rental center, and The Homestead Lodge, which can be reached by skiing the Homestead or North Forty trails. The Homestead Lodge is a mid-hill stop built from old homestead building and heated by potbelly stoves. Food and drinks are served at the Homestead and main Lodges.
