During the Event

The area is excellent for beachcombing, photography, and simply enjoying the ocean breeze. Keep an eye on the tides if you plan to explore the tide pools, which are most accessible during low tide. The Tillamook Rock Lighthouse offshore is a notable landmark, often shrouded in mist, adding to the dramatic atmosphere. This is a place for relaxed exploration rather than structured activities.

Post-Event & Departure

As your visit concludes, take a final stroll to the north towards Cannon Beach or south towards Manzanita to experience different sections of the coastline. Be mindful of the time, especially if you plan to dine in one of the nearby towns before heading home, as popular restaurants can have wait times. Ensure you leave no trace behind, packing out any trash you brought in. The drive back may be subject to traffic, particularly on Sunday afternoons or evenings, so allow for extra travel time.

Winter on the coast is cool and wet, with average high temperatures in the low 50s (°F). Expect frequent rain, strong winds, and dramatic storm surges. Pack heavy waterproof layers, sturdy boots, and warm clothing. While beach walks are possible, be mindful of high tides and powerful waves, and check conditions before heading out.

Spring & early summer

Temperatures gradually warm into the 60s (°F) in spring and early summer. Rainfall decreases, and sunny days become more frequent, though coastal fog can still roll in, especially in the mornings. Layers are key, including a windbreaker and comfortable walking shoes. This is an excellent time for exploring tide pools and enjoying longer daylight hours.

Mid-summer

July and August bring the warmest weather, with highs typically in the mid- to upper-60s (°F), occasionally reaching the low 70s. This is the busiest season, with clear skies and less fog, though coastal breezes can keep things pleasant. Pack light layers, including a light jacket for evenings, and sunscreen for sunny days. Beach activities are at their peak.

Fall season

Fall offers crisp air and average temperatures in the 50s and 60s (°F). The weather can be a mix of sunny days and increasing chances of rain and wind as the season progresses. It's ideal for beach walks and enjoying the vibrant coastal colors. Layers are essential, including a water-resistant outer shell and warm sweaters.

Rain & snow

Rain is a frequent visitor on the Oregon Coast throughout the year, particularly from fall through spring. Snow is extremely rare at beach level. Always be prepared for damp conditions by wearing waterproof outerwear and footwear. Fog can also be a significant factor, especially during mornings and evenings, reducing visibility.
